Walmart’s major grocery moves
Walmart captured 37% (an all-time high) of grocery e-commerce spending in Q2 2024.
TODAY’S STORY

Walmart has made significant moves to stand out as a food destination.
So far this year, Walmart has announced a new private-label grocery brand, made grocery the focus of store remodels, and expanded its roster of fast-casual in-store dining partners.
On the supply chain side, Walmart has announced plans to add five new distribution centers to its grocery supply chain and its third owned-and-operated milk processing plant in Robinson, Texas.
Walmart hopes these changes can help it become an even more dominant player in the grocery category. In Q2 2024, Walmart captured 37% of grocery e-commerce spending, hitting an all-time high for the retailer and outpacing supermarkets (27.3%) and Target (7%).
