Uber expands into AI data labeling
Uber makes additional jobs available for its 7 million monthly supply of drivers and couriers.
TODAY’S STORY
Drivers in Phoneix and LA have said driverless taxis are hurting their earnings.
As more autonomous vehicles take to the streets, Uber will need to find new gigs for its 7 million monthly drivers and couriers on the platform around the world.
The first indication is that Uber drivers in India also perform AI labeling tasks in their spare time, matched via Uber. The company is also accepting signups in the U.S., Canada, and Poland.
Uber’s expansion into “data labeling for AI” is exciting, given the market size and pull — ScaleAI, which offers similar services, is valued at $14 billion.
Look out for Uber to continue expanding into new areas of demand in the coming years as the demand for human drivers decreases exponentially.
