“Snackification”
Americans want smaller portions for a lower price.
TODAY’S STORY

America’s relationship with food is shifting.
A nation that was and still is synonymous with Big Macs and giant portions is now opting for smaller portions; that’s, of course, if prices come down with it. An overwhelming majority (75%) of adults said they would opt for smaller portions for a lower price.
Some restaurants have already taken action. Subway created a snack-focused Sidekicks menu with items under $5, and Burger King’s largest U.S. franchise decided to reduce the number of nuggets in meals from ten pieces to eight rather than increase prices.
The rise in popularity of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs in America should only accelerate the trend, as the medicine effectively reduces appetite.
The “snackification” movement is here.
