Mental health companies target election stress
Calm, a mental health app, has had a rise in subscriptions due to new election stress initiatives.
TODAY’S STORY
Election stress is a real thing.
One survey found that 73% of U.S. adults felt anxious about the election. In response, some well-known mental health companies started campaigns to address it:
Calm reported that the platform has seen a rise in subscriptions due to these election initiatives.
Election stress is just the tip of the iceberg—Americans are more stressed than ever. Nearly half (49%) of Americans in 2023 say they frequently experience stress, up 16 points over the past two decades and the highest in Gallup’s trends to date.
As depressing as it sounds, a stressed-out America is good business for mental health companies.
